Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala Electricity Minister Sunny Joseph on Monday lauded a KSEB employee who risked his life by swimming across a swollen river to restore power supply to a rain-hit area in Malappuram district. In a Facebook post, the minister said Kerala State Electricity Board (KSEB) employee Rafeeq of the Angadipuram section office swam across the overflowing river to repair a fault on the electricity line.

Joseph said that the line supplied power to the Chatholikundu area and electricity was disrupted when a fallen palm frond damaged the line during heavy rain on Sunday.

The minister said he spoke to Rafeeq over the phone soon after learning about the incident and conveyed the appreciation and gratitude of the people.
Joseph said employees like Rafeeq, who remain committed to their duty despite adverse conditions, are the strength of the KSEB and deserve the highest appreciation for their dedication.
