Kochi Metro To Be Renamed "Keralam Metro" Soon
The metro rail authorities are making this suggestion given the company’s expanding role in urban transport projects across Kerala.
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Kochi Metro will soon be renamed Keralam Metro, with the operator, Kochi Metro Rail Limited (KMRL), recommending the change to the state government.
In a proposal submitted to the government, KMRL Managing Director Loknath Behera sought in-principle approval for the new name. The metro rail authorities are making this suggestion given the company’s expanding role in urban transport projects across Kerala.
The company is planning and implementing urban transport projects across the state and overseeing water transport and electric mobility initiatives. KMRL is also part of the Kochi Water Metro and electric mobility projects, and has been entrusted with the proposed metro projects in Thiruvananthapuram and Kozhikode as well.
