Kerala: Toddler Fatally Hit by Train After Walking Onto Kerala Railway Track

Alappuzha: An 18-month old boy died on Tuesday evening after being hit by a train when the child walked onto the railway tracks near his home at Kakkazhom here, police said.

An officer of Ambalapuzha police station said that a woman who witnessed the incident claimed that she saw the child walk onto the tracks and being hit by the Ernakulam-Kollam passenger train.

The incident occurred around 6.10 pm when the toddler's parents were not at home and the person looking after him did not notice the child walking out of the house, the officer said.

"The body has been moved to the mortuary and the inquest proceedings will take place on Wednesday," he said.
