Kerala Man Burnt To Death After Moving Car Catches Fire In Thiruvananthapuram
Police traced the vehicle through its registration details and reached out to Titus’s family, who confirmed he had left his Kottayam home during the night before heading to Thiruvananthapuram.
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A man from Kottayam, Kerala, died after his car caught fire at Venganoor in Thiruvananthapuram early Monday morning.
The victim was identified as Titus Kurian, a resident of Ettumanoor. The incident happened around 5:30 am when smoke began coming from the car while Titus was driving. Within moments, the vehicle was engulfed in flames.
Hearing the car’s siren, locals and passersby rushed over, with some trying to break open the rear door to save him. Sadly, the intense fire made it impossible to reach him. By the time police and fire crews arrived, the car was destroyed, and the body inside was charred beyond recognition.

Authorities are now investigating whether the fire was due to suspicious circumstances or a technical/mechanical fault. Forensic specialists and Motor Vehicle Department officials have inspected both the car and the site of the incident.
Police say the exact cause of the fire and death will be determined after forensic tests and a post-mortem. The body has been sent to Thiruvananthapuram Medical College following a preliminary inquest. An FIR has been filed under Section 194 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023 (BNSS), which details police procedures for investigating and reporting unnatural or suspicious deaths, including suicides, homicides, and fatal accidents.
