Kerala high court caps Sabarimala darshan at 70,000 pilgrims per day
The court said the situation got out of control mainly because there was no proper coordination among the officials

Nellore:In a significant directive aimed at ensuring safety and smooth crowd management, the Kerala High Court has re-fixed the maximum number of pilgrims permitted for Sabarimala darshan at 70,000 per day through the Virtual Queue system.
This apart, an additional 5,000 pilgrims would be allowed in via spot booking. This revised cap will remain effective until November 24.
According to an announcement from the SP of Kerala’s Pathanamthitta district, Anand Rajaguru, it is mandatory for every devotee visiting Sabarimala to carry a valid Virtual Queue Pass for the specific date of their darshan.
“Only those with valid virtual queue or spot booking passes generated through the official online system will be allowed to proceed from Nilakkal to Sannidhanam,” the SP said.
Passes can be obtained only from the authorised centres at Nilakkal, Vandiperiyar–Sathram, Erumeli and Chengannur.
Devotees choosing spot booking are advised not to depend solely on the Nilakkal centre, as the daily quota may be exhausted before their arrival, which could prevent them from proceeding to the temple.
Pilgrims are requested to cooperate with security arrangements at Nilakkal, Pampa and Sannidhanam, and follow instructions issued by police and security personnel to ensure a safe and orderly pilgrimage experience.
For any Sabarimala-related assistance during the Mandala–Makaravilakku season, devotees may contact the number within Kerala: 14432; outside Kerala: 04735-14432.
