The chief minister's office said that District Collectors have been instructed to take steps to provide documents on a war footing to those who do not have sufficient documents. No fee will be charged for obtaining documents.

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Kerala government has decided to take immediate steps to include all eligible people in the voters' list.

The chief minister's office said that District Collectors have been instructed to take steps to provide documents on a war footing to those who do not have sufficient documents. No fee will be charged for obtaining documents.

If there is any existing fee, it will be waived during this period.

The CMO said the cabinet meeting had earlier decided to set up adequate help desks at local levels to help people get their names included in the voter list.

District Collectors have been entrusted with the responsibility of setting up hearing centers at all required places.

The officials have been asked to ensure adequate Infrastructure for the Centre's to avoid any inconvenience to the public.

If necessary, the services of volunteers and adequate hearing officers should be ensured at the hearing centers. The facility for online submission of forms by the public will be set up at all help centers. The IT department has been instructed to reduce the fees charged by Akshaya Centers, it said.

The CMO also directed that the appointment of booth level officers should be made within two days in polling stations where booth level officers are not appointed or are vacant. Vacancies arising due to retirement in the posts of ERO, AERO and Additional AERO should be filled immediately and LPR (Leave before retirement) should be granted only after the appointment of a replacement.

No transfer of the officials concerned should be made during this period. Leave should not be granted without prior permission, it said

The CMO said awareness will be created to include all eligible persons who have been omitted from the draft list in the electoral roll. If there is a delay in obtaining certificates through K-Smart, the Local Self-Government Department will examine the issue of providing them the same directly through the Panchayat.

It was directed to set up a K-Smart help desk in the camps. A meeting held under the chairmanship of the Chief Secretary examined these matters in detail and instructed all concerned to take necessary steps.

The government's policy is to ensure the right to vote for all eligible persons. That is why the state government has repeatedly demanded that the SIR process should be inclusive of all eligible voters. But no decisions have been made in its favour. It is in this context that the government has started help desks at the village level with the aim of providing voting rights to all eligible voters.

The government requested that all those who have been left out of the voter list should use this facility.
