Kerala CM V D Satheesan Slams Governor for Summoning DGP to Lok Bhavan

He said such unilateral moves were unacceptable and pointed out that similar issues had arisen during the previous government, when concerns were also raised with the Raj Bhavan.

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Chief Minister V.D. Satheesan sharply criticised Governor Rajendra Arlekar for calling the state DGP to Raj Bhavan without informing either him or the government.

He said such unilateral moves were unacceptable and pointed out that similar issues had arisen during the previous government, when concerns were also raised with the Raj Bhavan.

Speaking to reporters after the Cabinet meeting, Satheesan noted that the Governor’s action followed SFI protests and a complaint from Sree Sankaracharya University of Sanskrit Vice-Chancellor Ciza Thomas.

Key announcements made by CM at the Cabinet meeting

The government is set to lease 18.16 acres of land to Cochin Shipyard for ship block construction, a move expected to attract ₹50,000 crore in investments and generate ₹1.70 crore annually in lease revenue. Welfare pensions will start being distributed on Wednesday, with the CM assuring no further delays. For the festive season, funds have been approved for bonuses and advances to government employees, and Onam kits will be handed out smoothly. To clear farmers’ dues, ₹150 crore has been allotted to Supplyco and ₹25 crore to Consumerfed for pending paddy procurement payments.

Crackdown on Fraud and Corruption

Satheesan has warned of tough measures in investigations related to scams carried out using the name of football legend Lionel Messi. The Sports Department’s special secretary has submitted a report, and a decision on the type of inquiry will be made soon.
