Kerala BJP Leader P C George Arrested for Hate Speech Against Muslims
Earlier the police arrived at his residence to arrest him after the High Court rejected his bail.

Thiruvananthapuram: Former MLA and BJP leader P C George was remanded to police custody for 14 days by a magistrate court in Kerala.
George surrendered before the Erattupetta Magistrate Court after the High Court rejected his anticipatory bail plea, in connection with a case related to alleged communal remarks. He allegedly made a hate speech against the Muslim community during a TV debate.
Earlier the police arrived at his residence to arrest him after the High Court rejected his bail.
There were reports that Geroge would come to the Erattupetta police station for questioning.
However, the court’s decision rejecting his bail plea, came as a major setback. The BJP leader had made anti-Muslim remarks during a channel discussion on January 5.
George had made alleged inflammatory remarks branding the Muslim community as terrorists and communalists . He also made wild allegations claiming that no Muslim in the country was free from terrorism and suggested they migrate to Pakistan.
The police registered the case on the complaint of Youth League Erattupetta mandalam committee.
The case was registered under sections 196(1) and 299 of BNS and section 120 (o) of the Kerala Police Act which deals with penalties for causing nuisance and disrupting public order.
