CPM Worker Faces Action For Venugopal Flex Board
Mohammed, who put up the flex board, said he did it out of affection for AICC general secretary Venugopal. “My wish is that Venugopal should become the Chief Minister.

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A Kerala CPM worker who installed a flex board supporting K C Venugopal as the next CM, is all set to face disciplinary action from the party.
CPM Thrissur District Secretary KV Abdul Khader said Aravassery Mohammad’s move went against party policy and was unacceptable. “We’ve asked him for an explanation and told the Nattika area committee to take further steps,” he said. CCTV footage shows Mohammad installing the board in front of the Vatanapally grama panchayat office in Thrissur, allegedly to provoke Congress workers. The board featured the slogan “Let KC Lead” alongside Venugopal’s portrait.
Mohammed, who put up the flex board, said he did it out of affection for AICC general secretary Venugopal. “My wish is that Venugopal should become the Chief Minister. Shouldn’t a Congress chief minister come to power? We shouldn’t hate Congressmen. Aren’t they also our brothers?” he asked.
Many believe Mohammed is technically right, as he has only bolstered the India Alliance, of which both the Congress and CPM are members.
However, Congress workers in Vadanappally claimed Mohammed installed the flex with the knowledge of the local CPM leadership. “The idea was to create trouble within the Congress and sow mistrust among workers,” said one member.
Muhammed, the husband of a CPM Vadanappally local committee member, is at the center of a controversy after the UDF claimed the move was aimed at creating a rift in the party by putting up a board supporting Congress leader KC Venugopal. The UDF assembly segment committee lodged a police complaint over the incident. Party leaders demanded action against those spreading false propaganda to tarnish their image, while Congress workers protested, accusing the CPM of attempting to portray their political rivals negatively.
