BJP Allegations Of Irregularities In Voters List In Priyanka's Wayanad Constituency Found False

This clearly shows that the allegation levelled by the BJP leader, stating that one Maimuna voted in three different booths, turns out to be false: Reports

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A day after BJP leader Anurag Singh Thakur targeted Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi, alleging irregularities in the voter list of Wayanad Lok Sabha constituency, ground-level checks carried out by the media have found these charges false.

The BJP leader, at a press conference in Delhi, alleged that a voter named Maimuna voted at three different booths. According to his allegations, voter Maimuna cast her vote in booth No. 135 and 152 in Ernad assembly constituency.

However, the inquiries have now revealed that these were different individuals who had an identical name, Maimuna and that they had voted in their respective booths.

The three women named Maimuna reside in three different panchayats and are permanent residents of Arikode, Kavanur and Kuzhimanna. Each individual is registered to vote in only one booth.

While Maimuna, who is a resident of Kavanur panchayat, votes at booth No 115 under serial number 778, the other Maimuna from Kuzhimanna panchayat exercises her vote at booth No 152 under serial number 541.

Similarly, the Maimuna, who is a resident of Arikkode panchayat, cast her vote at booth No 135, under serial number 669.

This clearly shows that the allegation levelled by the BJP leader, stating that one Maimuna voted in three different booths, turns out to be false.

At the press conference, Thakur claimed that 93,000 votes were artificially added in the Wayanad Lok Sabha constituency. He even pointed out that some of the addresses indicated that people belonging to different religions resided in the same household, which was strange. As an example, he cited two voters from Chounderi in Kalpetta, Wayanad, to support his argument.

The BJP leader sought to know how UIma, Lillikutty, Farooque and Kamalamma were listed as residents of Chounderi. However, inquiries have revealed that Chounderi is not the name of a household but a small locality in the area.

The local voters said that earlier this place was known as Chamundeshwari Hill, which was later known as Chounderi.

They further added that people of this locality associate themselves with the name Chounderi irrespective of their caste or religious distinctions.

Meanwhile, Wayanad Congress leadership also disputed the BJP's claim that voters of multiple religions are registered in a house named Chaunderi in booth No 41 of Kalpetta assembly segment. The BJP was referring to a locality where people belonging to different religions share the same name.
