Youth Congress To Guard Lovers Against Moral Policing On Valentine's Day In Karnataka

“Our activists are active to thwart any attempt to Valentine's Day in parks and among other places of public congregation”: Youth Congress State president Manjunatha Gowda

BENGALURU: Members of Karnataka Pradesh Youth Congress Committee (KPYCC) on Friday gave a call to lovers not to get perturbed by the right-wing activists' fear of disturbing Valentine's Day on Saturday and assured them that the youth Congress activists would guard them against ‘moral policing.’

Youth Congress State president Manjunatha Gowda in a press release stated several pro-Hindu organisations oppose Valentine’s Day celebrations and conduct raids on shops selling flowers, gift centres among others while disturbances to Valentine’s Day celebrations started in Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) States but members of youth Congress are ready to counter any attempts by Bajrang Dal, Vishwa Hindu Parishad, Sri Ramasene among other pro-Hindu organisations.

Gowda said “Our activists are active to thwart any attempt to Valentine's Day in parks and among other places of public congregation” and stated “Moral policing is more prevalent in Mangaluru and our activists would provide protection against attempts to disturb Valentine’s Day celebrations.”

“A direction has been given to all block Congress presidents and party functionaries to protect lovers from any attacks,” said the Youth State president in his statement.

He appealed to police officials not to allow right wing activists to disturb Valentine’s Day celebrations and assured lovers that the youth Congress functionaries will offer resistance to any disturbances for Valentine’s Day celebrations as 'warriors of love.'
