Woman Allegedly Throws Son, Sister-In-Law’s Son Into Well; One Dies

A woman allegedly threw two children into a well in Dakshina Kannada following a marital dispute, leaving one child dead and the other hospitalised.

A woman allegedly threw her three-and-a-half-year-old son and her husband’s sister’s three-year-old son into a well near their home in Perne in Dakshina Kannada district following a marital dispute, leaving the latter dead and the other child hospitalised, police said.

Noorunnisa (28), was taken into custody following the incident, which took place in the afternoon.

Noorunnisa and her husband, Sinan, who live in Perne, about 30 km from Mangaluru, had argued during a phone call in the afternoon, according to the police.

Angered by the dispute, Noorunnisa allegedly took her three-and-a-half-year-old son and her husband's sister's three-year-old son and threw both of them into a well near their house.

On noticing the incident, local residents rushed to the spot and pulled the children out of the well.

The child who was the son of Noorunnisa's sister-in-law died, while Noorunnisa's son was taken to a hospital in Mangaluru for treatment.

Uppinangady police have registered a case in connection with the incident. Noorunnisa has been taken into custody and is being questioned, police added.
