Who Fired Fatal Bullet? Police Await FSL Report in Ballari Clash Death

BJP leaders have alleged that a private gunman linked to Ballari City MLA Nara Bharath Reddy’s close aide, Satish Reddy, opened fire during the clash.

Ballari: As a political blame game intensifies between the Congress and the BJP over the violent clash and firing in Ballari that claimed the life of a Congress worker, the police have stepped up their investigation by analysing CCTV footage and questioning several individuals. Sources said the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) report is expected to be crucial in establishing the source of the fatal bullet.

Rajashekhar, identified as a Congress worker, died after being hit by a bullet during the firing incident. The bullet particles were recovered from the body during Post Mortem. Police sources indicated that the bullet did not originate from a police weapon; however, it is yet to be ascertained who fired the shot that proved fatal.

BJP leaders have alleged that a private gunman linked to Ballari City MLA Nara Bharath Reddy’s close aide, Satish Reddy, opened fire during the clash. They have also released a video showing a turbaned private gunman firing shots during the violence. However sources said it is too early to conclude whether the weapon seen in the video was responsible for Rajashekhar’s death.

To have a proper probe the police have seized five firearms belonging to private security personnel in connection with the case. ADGP (Law and Order) Hithendra R told reporters that the seized weapons would be subjected to ballistic examination at the Forensic Science Laboratory. The ballistic report will establish whether there is a match between the bullet recovered and any of the seized firearms.

Meanwhile, investigators are continuing to scrutinise CCTV footage from the area and have questioned several people as part of the ongoing probe. Police clarified that no formal arrests have been made so far, and the investigation is on.
