Vittal Police Nab Accused Wanted In 34-Year-Old Petrol Case

MANGALURU: Vittal police have arrested a man who had been absconding for over three decades in connection with an illegal petrol transportation case registered in 1992.

The arrested accused has been identified as Siddique, who was wanted in a case registered at the Vittal Police Station under Sections 3 and 23 of the Petroleum Act.

According to police, the case pertains to the alleged illegal transportation of petrol in a car on October 14, 1992. Another accused in the case, Ibrahim (28), a resident of Manjeshwar in Kasaragod district, had also been booked at the time.

Police said Siddique had remained absconding for several years after failing to appear before the court during trial proceedings.

Acting on credible information, a police team led by probationary PSI Siddappa, along with ASI Jayaram and police personnel Gopal, Yankappa and Shrishail Jorapur, traced and arrested the accused at Kabbina Mole in Kanyana village on May 11 night.

Police said the accused would be produced before the court for further legal proceedings.
