Unauthorised Websites To Book Slots for Electric Crematorium in Bengaluru North, Complaint Lodged
BNCC files cyber complaint after unauthorised portals allegedly charge up to Rs 5,000 for slots.

Bengaluru: While the officials of Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA) fixed Rs 250 as crematorium charge to book slots at electric crematoriums under Bengaluru North City Corporation (BNCC) but unauthorized websites, intermediaries and individuals allegedly collected money in excess from bereaved families for availing services at electric crematoriums.
Gathering details of such activities going on, officials of BNCC lodged a complaint with Cyber Crime Police of Yelahanka which is under investigation against unauthorized websites and intermediaries. The unauthorised websites to book slots for funerals charged Rs 5,000 from bereaved families.
The Bengaluru North City Corporation operates Chirashantidhama Electric Crematorium Hebbal Kempapura and Muktidhama Electric Crematorium, Medi Agrahara and charges Rs 250 for services at these electric crematoriums but unidentified persons operating unauthorized websites and some through agents collected money in excess than the stipulated amount fixed by GBA officials to book crematorium slots.
Officials of BNCC asked the public not to fall prey to unauthorized websites and not to approach agents or intermediaries to book slots at its crematoriums and appealed to the public to book slots only on official online platforms of Greater Bengaluru Authority. They wanted the public to bring any fraudulent activities to the notice of officials concerned to initiate action through proper channels against such activities.
