The trio allegedly arrived in the Ford EcoSport, and the person sitting in the rear seat asked the attendant to fill the vehicle's tank with diesel.

Udupi: Three youths allegedly tricked a fuel station employee into believing they had paid for diesel by scanning a QR code, before speeding away without paying the Rs 4,711 bill. They were later tracked down and arrested in Bengaluru.
Police said on Thursday that the incident took place at a fuel bunk at Subhash Nagar in Kurkalu village of Karkala taluk at around 9.10 pm on June 27.

After the fuel was filled, the bill came to Rs 4,711.09. One of them scanned the QR code shown by the employee and asked him to generate the bill. While the bill was being printed, the trio allegedly convinced the staff that payment had been made and drove away before the amount could be verified.

It comprised Shirva Police Sub-Inspector Manjunath Marabad, Lohith Kumar CS, and police personnel Harsha Bhat, Basavaraj and Dariyappa who traced the accused to Bengaluru.
