Udupi: Bus–Toofan Crash on NH Near Karkala Claims Four Lives

The accident occurred at about 2.50 pm involving a private bus travelling from Dharmasthala to Karkala, and a Toofan vehicle heading towards Dharmasthala after arriving from Kalaburagi via Udupi.

Udupi: Four persons died in a head-on collision between a private bus and a passenger vehicle on the National Highway near Kambala Cross in Miyaru village, under Karkala Town Police limits, on Friday, police said.
The accident occurred at about 2.50 pm involving a private bus travelling from Dharmasthala to Karkala, and a Toofan vehicle heading towards Dharmasthala after arriving from Kalaburagi via Udupi.
Police said that the Toofan was carrying 12 passengers, including a child, at the time of the crash. Three occupants of the vehicle, identified as Mannappa (driver), Chethu, and Rohith, died on the spot. Mallamma who had sustained serious injuries and was undergoing treatment at a hospital also passed away late evening.
Other injured passengers, including the child, are undergoing treatment.
