Udupi: Bus–Toofan Crash on NH Near Karkala Claims Three Lives
The accident occurred at about 2.50 pm involving a private bus travelling from Dharmasthala to Karkala, and a Toofan vehicle heading towards Dharmasthala after arriving from Kalaburagi via Udupi.
Udupi: Three persons were killed on the spot and several others injured in a head-on collision between a private bus and Toofan- a passenger vehicle on the National Highway near Kambala Cross in Miyaru village, under Karkala Town Police limits, on Friday, police said.
The accident occurred at about 2.50 pm involving a private bus travelling from Dharmasthala to Karkala, and a Toofan vehicle heading towards Dharmasthala after arriving from Kalaburagi via Udupi.
Police said that the Toofan was carrying 12 passengers, including a child, at the time of the crash. Three occupants of the vehicle, identified as Mannappa (driver), Chethu, and Rohith, died on the spot, while one person who sustained critical injuries was shifted to KMC Hospital, Manipal, for advanced treatment.
A child suffered minor injuries and has been admitted to a hospital in Karkala. Other injured passengers are also undergoing treatment at the hospital in Karkala.
