BENGALURU: Two persons were electrocuted in N.S. Palya of Bengaluru city on Monday evening when they were engaged in draining out water from the flooded basement of their apartment. Both died on the spot owing to a short circuit in the electrical system. The deceased have been identified as Dinesh (12) and Manmohan (63).

Sources said Manmohan, a resident of Madhuvan Apartment, decided to drain out the flooded basement of his apartment and he was assisted by Dinesh, son of a security guard at the apartment. Manmohan took on rent a pump motor to drain out the excess water in his apartment and he was engaged in connecting the pump motor wires when he got electrocuted along with Dinesh.

A colleague of deceased Manmohan, Venkatesh stated he was shocked over his death caused by electrocution and said Manmohan had told him to initiate steps to clear the flooded basement of his apartment. He is said to have taken a pump motor on rent to get the job done but unaware of power supply leak, he is said to have died owing to electrocution.

Sources said, Manmohan is said to have lodged a complaint to the officials concerned on the flooded basement of his apartment and he later decided to get the excess water out of the basement and rented a pump motor and it is said Mammohan might not have noticed damages in the connecting wires and got electrocuted leading to his death and Dinesh.
