The incident took place at around 1.30 pm when the grandmother of the children left for a bank for some work.

Bengaluru: A man attacked his nephews, leaving two of them dead and another struggling for life in a hospital in Bengaluru, Hebbagodi police said on Saturday. Police identified the attacker as Qasim, younger brother of Chand Pasha, the father of their children, at their house in Hebbagodi. The police have since arrested Qasim.

The deceased children were identified as Ishaq, 9, and Junaid, 7, while five-year-old Rohan is battling for his life. The motive behind the attack on the children is yet to be ascertained by the police.

The incident took place at around 1.30 pm when the grandmother of the children left for a bank for some work. Chand Pasha works as a mason while his wife worked at a garment factory.

Chand Pasha belonged to Yadgir district and moved to Bengaluru in search of livelihood. He stayed at Hebbagodi with his mother, wife, children and his brother Qasim. It is said Qasim was unemployed and had health issues.

A month back, Qasim went missing from the house and Chand Pasha had conducted a thorough search for him. Qasim was later traced and returned to the family.

Police said Qasim had claimed he had attacked the children as his brother Chand Pasha did not care for him.
