Tribal girl’s death sparks outrage, probe ordered in Ramnagar

Bengaluru: The body of a 14-year-old speech and hearing challenged girl belonging to Hakki Pikki community, was found on railway tracks near Bhadrapura in Ramnagar district. The girl, a resident of Bhadrapura of Bidadi in Ramnagar district, had gone missing on Monday. Bidadi is about 40 km from Bengaluru. She was an inmate at a hostel in Tavarekere and had come to her village to spend her vacation when the tragic incident happened.

The body had head injuries and a couple of other injury marks over her body. The body of the victim has been sent for post-mortem to determine the cause of the death.

Meanwhile, Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar met the kith and kin of the deceased girl and assured them of impartial probe into the death. He assured police will have a free hand in the investigation and justice will be delivered to the deceased family.

Congress MLA Balakrishna visited Bhadrapura where he had to face wrath of the villagers who alleged some unknown persons consumed ganja sitting on railway tracks and suspected their involvement in the murder of the tribal girl.
