Shivakumar Vows Hard Work As CM

“I am bound to my job with utmost dedication and will reshape the future of the State because the world is watching India through Bengaluru, in fact Karnataka”: DK Shivakumar

BENGALURU: On the eve of his swearing‑in as Chief Minister, KPCC president and Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar on Tuesday said, “I know the road ahead will not be easy to navigate. Difficult times lie ahead, but I have to deliver for the people.”

Assuring that from Wednesday it would mark the beginning of a “Youth Era,” Shivakumar said that in discharging his duties as Chief Minister, “I will have to work hard and deliver.” He had earlier stated that his oath‑taking ceremony would be a low‑key affair.

“I am bound to my job with utmost dedication and will reshape the future of the State because the world is watching India through Bengaluru, in fact Karnataka,” he said, describing Karnataka as “a lovely State.” “I meet people and they keep telling me that Karnataka is a lovely State,” he added, stressing that he would take all sections of society into confidence.

“I am obliged to the faith and confidence reposed in me by the people of this country,” said the CM‑elect, who will be sworn in at Lok Bhavan on Wednesday at 4.05 pm in Bengaluru.

Meanwhile, city police commissioner Seemanth Kumar Singh said elaborate arrangements had been made for the ceremony. He clarified that only visitors with valid passes would be allowed to witness the event live. A traffic advisory stated that the movement of heavy vehicles within Bengaluru city limits would be prohibited on Wednesday from 12 pm to 10 pm, along with other restrictions, diversions and designated parking areas.
