Tiger Attacks And Injures A Person In Sargur Of Mysuru

The screams of co-workers made the tiger flee from the spot: Reports

BENGALURU: A straying tiger attacked and injured a villager of Nugu range of Bandipur Tiger Reserve of Sargur taluk in Mysuru district on Saturday and the injured is undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Mysuru city. The injured is identified as Kiran, a resident of Bennegere village, working at a farm when a straying tiger attacked him from behind leaving the worker injured in his back and neck regions.

When the tiger attacked Kiran, his co-workers came into his rescue after hearing screams. The screams of co-workers made the tiger flee from the spot. The field is located under Mulluru Gram Panchayat limits of Sargur taluk.

It may be recalled here, a straying tiger mauled a farmer Rajshekar, 65 years in the vicinity of Mulluru Gram Panchayat about 8 months back while a couple of days back, two cattle kills were reported from straying tigers. Villagers brought to the notice of forest officials that a tiger has been sighted in their village vicinity since fortnight.

ACF Paramesh assured the villagers to take-up combing operations in and around the village to drive the straying tiger back to the forest and also to meet the expenses incurred in the treatment of the injured person.
