Tests on Suspected Ebola Case Turns Negative in Bengaluru

The traveler complained of body ache among other symptoms similar to that of an Ebola infected person.

Bengaluru: Tests on a 28 year old Ugandan traveler to Bengaluru city, a couple of days back, over suspected Ebola infection have been reported negative. The samples were tested at the National Institute of Virology, Pune.

On her arrival to Bengaluru, the Ugandan traveler stayed at a hotel and showed mild symptoms of Ebola infection in her. The traveler complained of body ache among other symptoms similar to that of an Ebola infected person.

The Ugandan was shifted to State-run-Epidemic Diseases Hospital in Bengaluru and the samples collected from the suspected person was subjected for lab tests which turned out to be negative. The condition of the Ugandan is said to be in good health.

Minister of Health and Family Welfare Services Dinesh Gundu Rao stated the suspected Ebola case confirmed the lab tests on the Ugandan traveler has been negative and the traveller was not infected with Ebola virus which is spreading fast in some of the African countries at the moment.

Rao assured all required medical protocols and precautionary measures are strictly followed in accordance with established public health guidelines and the health officials continue to closely monitor the situation and remain fully prepared to take all necessary measures in the interest of the public health and safety.
