Sri Rama Vidyakendra Management Booked Over School Bus Document Lapses
The action comes in the wake of the July 22 incident at Barimar in Bantwal taluk, where a tree fell on a school vehicle carrying students, killing one child and injuring two others.
Mangaluru: The Bantwal Rural Police have booked the management of Sri Rama Vidyakendra Trust in Kalladka, after investigations into the recent school vehicle tragedy revealed that the vehicle involved in the accident allegedly did not possess valid statutory documents, including insurance and a fitness certificate.
The action comes in the wake of the July 22 incident at Barimar in Bantwal taluk, where a tree fell on a school vehicle carrying students, killing one child and injuring two others.
Following the incident, the police had registered an Unnatural Death Report (UDR). During the probe, investigators sought a report from the Regional Transport Office (RTO) to verify the status of the vehicle's documents. According to the police, the RTO report revealed that the vehicle's insurance policy and fitness certificate had expired before the accident.
Investigators also found that the vehicle had not been registered in the name of Sri Rama Vidya Kendra but was instead registered in the name of another trust.
Based on the findings, the Bantwal Rural Police have registered a fresh case against the head of the management of Sri Rama Vidyakendra Trust, Kalladka, and others under Section 125 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and Sections 196 and 192(1) of the Motor Vehicles Act. Further investigation is underway.
