Sri Rama Sene Distributes Saffron Shawls To Students In Bagalkot, Hubballi

The activists symbolically handed over saffron shawls to both male and female students near the college campus and argued that if students are allowed to wear hijabs as an expression of their religious identity, Hindu students should similarly be permitted to wear saffron shawls.

Bagalkot: Activists of the Sri Rama Sene on Monday distributed saffron shawls to students outside a College in the city, protesting the government's decision to permit Muslim girl students to wear hijabs in educational institutions.

The activists symbolically handed over saffron shawls to both male and female students near the college campus and argued that if students are allowed to wear hijabs as an expression of their religious identity, Hindu students should similarly be permitted to wear saffron shawls.

Officers from the Navanagar police station were stationed near the college to maintain law and order and prevent any untoward incidents.

Meanwhile, a similar exercise was carried out in Hubballi, where Sri Rama Sene activists distributed saffron shawls to students near Vidyanagar as part of their protest against allowing hijabs in schools and colleges.

No untoward incidents were reported from either location.
