Software Engineer Falls Into Trap Of Escort Services In Bengaluru, Rescued By The Police
Police are investigating whether the gang targeted other persons in the name of escort services

BENGALURU: Two women were among 5 persons arrested by Rajarajeshwari Nagar police of Bengaluru city over their alleged involvement in a honey trap case wherein the accused persons intimidated a software engineer (31) who was on the lookout for a female companionship (escort service). The software engineer fell to the gang of escort services twice before the police came to his rescue.
The accused persons arrested by the police were identified as Sumalatha alias Anjali (28), Harshini alias Sweety (26) and their male associates identified as Jagadeesh (35), Manjunath (30) and Lokesh (32). A software engineer came into contact with a female through a mobile application on December 1 and the engineer agreed to pay her Rs 20,000 cash demanded by the female companion.
He reached a location shared by the woman and met her at the said location. After engaging in tlaks, the software engineer was asked to undress in a room and as soon as he undressed, the woman snatched Rs 20,000 and his mobile phone. The woman threatened him of framing him in a rape case and the engineer somehow managed to escape from the location.
Again on December 20, the software engineer got into trouble after he sought escort service through a mobile app. The engineer was asked by the woman who identified herself as “Sweety” to meet her at the location shared on his mobile phone. The location was again in RR Nagar.
An unsuspecting engineer walked straight into the trap again only to find the previous female companion who had snatched his Rs 20,000 and another woman at the location shared with him. Besides, 3 male members were also present here. The gang demanded Rs one lakh from the software engineer.
The male associates of the gang allegedly assaulted the engineer before the screams of the victim alerted the passersby who informed the police. Police reached the location to make arrests of the accused persons and based on a complaint from the software engineer, RR Nagar police registered cases against the accused under various sections. Police are investigating whether the gang targeted other persons in the name of escort services.
