Six Held for Blocking Police Personnel at Pangala Cross Incident

The arrested are identified as Padmaprasad (32), Suhas (22), and Shashidhar (30), all residents of Dharmasthala, Khalandar Puttumonu (42) of Ujire, Chetan (21) of Kalenja, and Guruprasad (19) of Kalmanja.

Mangaluru: Police have arrested six persons in connection with a case of obstructing police personnel during an incident near Pangala Cross here on August 6.

Trouble had erupted in the area following a confrontation between two groups, prompting police intervention. Officers alleged that some individuals tried to prevent them from controlling the situation, leading to the registration of a case.

Those arrested are identified as Padmaprasad (32), Suhas (22), and Shashidhar (30), all residents of Dharmasthala, Khalandar Puttumonu (42) of Ujire, Chetan (21) of Kalenja, and Guruprasad (19) of Kalmanja.

The six were produced before the court on Friday, which granted them interim bail.

On August 6, a group of YouTubers filming in the Pangala area was confronted by locals over “misleading” social media content about the SIT probe into alleged human remains near Dharmasthala. The dispute turned physical, injuring some and damaging a camera. Later, 25–50 people reportedly gathered at Pangala Cross in two groups, clashing with each other.
