Six Families From Haveri Safe Amid Nepal Floods

Haveri: Twelve members of six families from Rattihalli in Haveri district, who were on a holiday in Nepal, are safe and are now travelling towards India.

“We were in Pokhara and were on our way to Kathmandu. When we were about 50 km from the flood-affected area, we learnt about the floods. We turned back towards Pokhara and halted there. We are all safe,” Gangol said.
The group had left for Nepal three days ago through a tour and travel agency and included businessmen, contractors and their family members from Rattihalli.
“We want to tell the people of Rattihalli and Karnataka that all of us are safe,” Gangol said.
News of the floods had caused anxiety among relatives back home, particularly as the group was travelling in the area affected by the disaster. Confirmation that all members were safe and had begun their return journey brought considerable relief to their families.
“I spoke to my father in the night. As there is no proper mobile network, we could not speak much. However, he told me that they were on their way back and were about 25 km from the Uttar Pradesh border. They are in a safe place,” Arun Gangol told Deccan Chronicle.
“They are yet to decide on the route for their return. He said they would decide on the flight boarding point shortly or, alternatively, travel to Ayodhya,” he added.
