Shivakumar Makes A Hurried Return To Bengaluru

Prior to his arrival in Bengaluru, Shivakumar’s supporters burst in, hoping that their leader would ascend to the post of Chief Minister after it was confirmed that incumbent Chief Minister Siddaramaiah would resign: Reports

BENGALURU: Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar on Wednesday made a hurried return to Bengaluru. He arrived at Kempegowda International Airport near Bengaluru via a flight from New Delhi where he stayed overnight after meeting Congress central leaders-Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi, president of All India Congress Committee (AICC) Mallikarjun Kharge and general secretaries-Randeep Singh Surjewala and K.C. Venugopal.

Shivakumar, as per his tour programme, was to return on Thursday from New Delhi and land at KIA at around 8.30 am to attend breakfast hosted by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah at his official residence “Kaveri” in Bengaluru city. He was to depart from New Delhi at around 5.45 am. But the reasons for his sudden return to Bengaluru was not known immediately.

At his native place Ramnagar in Bengaluru South, Shivakumar’s supporters assembled at Injoor Cross and distributed sweets to passersby while crackers were burst at Shivakumar’s residence at Sadashivanagar in Bengaluru city.

On his arrival at the KIA, Shivakumar was greeted by a huge gathering of his supporters while police tightened security at the airport. He left for his residence after acknowledging the crowd.
