7 Dead in a Multiple Accident Near Hoskote
According to police, the driver of the SUV allegedly lost control after the initial impact and crashed into a canter vehicle

Bengaluru: Seven persons, six of them in a SUV, were killed on the spot in a serial accident on Hoskote-Devanahalli National Highway near Bengaluru in the early hours of Friday. The accident is said to have occurred at around 4.20 am. The occupants in the car were in the age group of 17-19 years.
Five of the dead were aged 17, and one was 18 years old. They were students of Intermediate first year or Class 10.
Police said the six occupants in the SUV were on their way towards Devanahalli from Hosakote when they collided with a two-wheeler. The rider, Gagan, was employed at an Institute and was returning home from night shift died on the spot owing to collision.
The car then dashed against a mini-lorry passing on the way. Owing to the impact of the collision, the rear wheels of the lorry snapped and the vehicle jumped a road divider. Its driver escaped with minor injuries. The impact of the collision was so severe that the occupants in the car died on the spot sustaining serious head injuries.
On Saturday, officials of National Highways Authority of India, public works department, police and Regional Transport Authority will hold a joint inspection of the road to initiate precautionary measures to thwart accidents on the road in future. Investigation into the accident has been initiated under Hosakote DySP.
After the post-mortem examination, police handed over the bodies of the deceased to their family members.
