Serial Burglaries Cracked In Belagavi, Five Arrested
Police said they seized 415.98 grams of gold ornaments worth Rs 64.47 lakh and 1,329.75 grams of silver ornaments valued at Rs 3.45 lakh from the accused, taking the total recovery to Rs 67.93 lakh

Belagavi: Belagavi city police have arrested five persons involved in a series of house burglary across various localities, recovering gold and silver ornaments worth Rs 67.93 lakh.
The accused had been targeting houses in areas such as Aman Nagar, Ujwal Nagar, Maruti Nagar, Shahu Nagar and Veerabhadra Nagar, breaking open locks and decamping with valuables, police said.
Three of the arrested — Rehan Mainuddin Dhafedar alias Pathan (18), a resident of Vaibhav Nagar, Malik Khalil Hubballi (26) of Veerabhadra Nagar, and Armaan Akshar Shaikh (18), originally from Raibag taluk and currently residing in Veerabhadra Nagar — are accused of carrying out the burglaries.
Two others — Khalil Ismail Hubballi (57) and Shanawaz Sirajuddin Pathan (23), both from Veerabhadra Nagar — were arrested for allegedly receiving and possessing the stolen ornaments.
Police said they seized 415.98 grams of gold ornaments worth Rs 64.47 lakh and 1,329.75 grams of silver ornaments valued at Rs 3.45 lakh from the accused, taking the total recovery to Rs 67.93 lakh.
The operation was carried out by a team from Malmaruti police station under the guidance of senior officers.
City Police Chief Bhushan Gulabrao Borase has commended the team for cracking the case.
