SDPI Protests Against Waqf Amendment Bill in Mangalore

The protest was led by SDPI Mangalore Rural District President Anwar Sadath Bajathur who said the Waqf Amendment Bill is seen as a hidden agenda of the central government

Mangaluru: Opposing the tabling of Waqf Amendment Bill in the Rajya Sabha, the Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI) Mangalore Rural District Committee organized a protest at BC Road Kaikamba.

The protest was led by SDPI Mangalore Rural District President Anwar Sadath Bajathur.

He said that the Waqf Amendment Bill is seen as a hidden agenda of the central government, and such a bill cannot be accepted by the secular forces of the country.

"Waqf property is an asset given by the elders of the Muslim community for the welfare of Muslims. This is a right of the Muslim community, and we cannot accept any interference from the central government in this matter. This bill, which targets Muslims, has been opposed by secular forces, including SDPI and various religious leaders, across the country,” he said.

Later, the protestors expressed their opposition to the bill by tearing up a copy of the new Waqf Amendment Bill and setting it on fire.

SDPI Mangalore Rural District Secretary Ashraf Talapadi and others were present.
