Sauces Nearing Expiry Date Stored at Distribution Centres Seized, Sent for Lab Tests
The food storage and distribution centres belonging to Coldman Logistics Private Limited and Radhakrishna Foodland Limited found 70 soy sauce nearing their expiry dates and various types of sauces close to their expiry date.

Bengaluru:A day after inspections at star hotels of Bengaluru where Food Safety officials came across fungal growths on vegetables, unhygienic food handling and storage conditions, storage of expired food products, misbranding of food products among others, on the second day the officials concerned took to inspections of food storage and distribution centres to find varieties of sauces nearing expiry date. The close to expiry date sauces were seized and subjected to lab analysis.
The food storage and distribution centres of two food products suppliers to hotels came under inspections from the Department of Food Safety and Drugs Administration on Saturday and the inspection teams comprising Designated Officers and Food Safety Officers. Inspection officials found food products particularly varieties of sauces stored which were close to their expiry date.
The inspections were conducted at Coldman Logistics Private Limited and Radhakrishna Foodland Limited, suppliers of food products to reputed hotel establishments in Bengaluru and the inspections conducted under the guidance of Minister of Health and Family Welfare U.T. Khader involves officials of Health and Family Welfare, Food Safety and Drug Administration Department and Food Safety Wing.

In addition, 5 meat samples and 13 other food samples were collected and subjected to lab analysis. About 10 litres of beverages including strawberry -flavoured beverages and other beverages nearing expiry dates were also seized.
Commissioner of Food Safety and Drug Administration in a statement assured appropriate legal action will be initiated against food business operators found violating safety and quality requirements under the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006 and the Food Safety Standards (Licensing and Registration of Food Businesses) Regulations, 2011.
