Raichur ZP CEO Leads By Example, Chooses Govt Hospital For Wife's Delivery
At a time when many still perceive government hospitals as facilities meant only for the economically weaker sections, Kandoo broke the stereotype by opting for the Raichur Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) for his wife’s delivery on April 26. The couple was blessed with a baby boy

Raichur: In a quiet yet powerful gesture aimed at building public confidence in government healthcare, Raichur Zilla Panchayat Chief Executive Officer Iswar Kumar Kandoo chose a government hospital for one of the most important moments of his personal life — the delivery of his wife.
At a time when many still perceive government hospitals as facilities meant only for the economically weaker sections, Kandoo broke the stereotype by opting for the Raichur Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) for his wife’s delivery on April 26. The couple was blessed with a baby boy.
What makes the decision stand out is that it was a conscious choice, despite the availability of several private hospitals in the city. Kandoo's intention was to send a message that government hospitals today are equipped with quality infrastructure, skilled doctors and attentive staff capable of handling critical healthcare needs.
Following the delivery at RIMS, both mother and child are now being cared for at the Mother and Child Hospital run under the district administration and Zilla Panchayat. Doctors said both are in good health.
Speaking about his decision, Kandoo said he had personally reviewed facilities in government hospitals and was confident about the level of care available.
The CEO said that the government has ensured quality maternal and child healthcare services across its hospitals, including in rural areas.
“From skilled obstetricians and well-equipped labour rooms to modern equipment, necessary laboratory tests, timely medication and nutritious food, all facilities are being provided. I have personally reviewed these arrangements,” he said.
He added that his decision to opt for a government hospital for the delivery was aimed at building public confidence in such institutions. “We decided to go for delivery at RIMS, and now both mother and child are receiving further care at the Mother and Child Hospital. It is a matter of personal pride for us,” he said.
