Bengaluru: Former JD(S) MP Prajwal Revanna was on Tuesday sent to two-day police custody by a court here in connection with an alleged case of mobile phone use inside the Parappana Agrahara Central Prison. Revanna, grandson of former Prime Minister H D Deve Gowda, was produced before the 42nd Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (ACMM) court along with co-accused Pratap Rai, following allegations that a mobile phone was used inside the prison, police said.

The court remanded Revanna and Rai to police custody for two days to facilitate further investigation into the alleged use of the phone inside the prison.

Revanna, who is serving a prison sentence in connection with a rape case, is currently lodged at the Parappana Agrahara Central Prison.

The alleged mobile phone use came to light during a recent search operation by the Central Crime Branch (CCB) at the prison, following which authorities initiated an inquiry into how the device was accessed inside the high-security facility.
