Photographs Circulated on Social Media Trigger Questions, Commissioner Clarifies
The circulation of the photographs on social media led to questions from some users about the interaction.

Dharwad:Photographs of newly appointed Hubballi-Dharwad Police Commissioner Bhushan Gulabrao Borase being greeted by two men facing criminal cases have been widely circulated on social media, prompting questions over their presence at the Commissioner’s office.
The photographs show Amit Baddi, an accused in the Gauri Lankesh murder case, and Khetsingh Rajpurohit, who is facing drug related case, greeting Borase after he assumed charge as the Commissioner.
The circulation of the photographs on social media led to questions from some users about the interaction. However, Borase clarified over the past two days, since he assumed charge as the Police Commissioner, more than 200 citizens have visited the Commissioner’s office to greet him and extend their wishes.
“As a large number of people had visited the office during this period, it was noticed later that some individuals with criminal backgrounds had also come to meet me and had photographs taken with me,” he said.
“The visit of such individuals, or the photographs taken with them, should not be interpreted in any way as indicating any association or connection between them and the police department.
The Hubballi-Dharwad city police are committed to taking strict, impartial and uncompromising legal action against crime and criminals, irrespective of who is involved,” he assured.
Borase, before taking charge in Hubballi-Dharwad, served as the Police Commissioner of Belagavi, where the police had stepped up action against criminal activities, including drug-related offences. The department had also undertaken special drives against drug peddling during his tenure.
He has reiterated that the police in Hubballi-Dharwad would continue to take strict and impartial action against criminal activities, irrespective of the background or influence of those involved.
