NRI Held in Bengaluru Over Illegal Possession of Ruger Magazine, Remanded to JC
Police seized Ruger magazine rounds left behind at a city hotel by US citizen

Bengaluru: A Non-Resident Indian (NRI) and a resident of United States, identified as Arman Mutahar (34) was arrested by J.C. Nagar police of Bengaluru city on May 6 on charges of illegally possessing 7 live rounds of Ruger company magazine and the person was produced before the Court which remanded him to judicial custody. Arman is basically from Bengaluru and later moved to the United States where he obtained US Citizenship.
Police investigation into the case revealed the person violated the Arms Act, and his passport, mobile phone, laptop and other related documents were seized.
Police said they received a complaint from Manager of Jayamahal Palace Hotel on May 6 wherein he stated a NRI from United States stayed at the hotel on April 27 and vacated on April 28 morning. Shortly after he vacated the hotel, the NRI is said to have contacted the Manager of the Hotel he stayed and informed that he accidentally left behind a magazine loaded with 7 live rounds of ammunition in the room he had stayed.
The hotel staff checked the room and came across 7 live rounds of Ruger company magazine. The Manager repeatedly called the NRI to collect the magazine left by him but he failed to collect it. Later, the Manager lodged a complaint with J.C. Nagar police and acting on the complaint, police summoned the foreign national to the station to question him with regard to Rugar company magazine.
The NRI reportedly admitted that he was in illegal possession of the magazine and told the police that he had accidentally loaded the magazine in his luggage. The arrested foreign national was initially given 10 days' police custody by a Court on May 7 before he was remanded to judicial custody. Police investigation continues in the case.
