Bengaluru: Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister G Parameshwara on Thursday confirmed that eight citizens from Karnataka are trapped in the severe weather calamity following the flash floods in Nepal. Speaking to ANI, G Parameshwara confirmed the number of stranded citizens in the Nepal floods and said, "As per the information we have received, 8 people from Karnataka are stuck in the Nepal floods. We are ascertaining their details and other information," G Parameshwara said.
He further explained the measures being undertaken to establish contact with the trapped citizens.
"As per the information we have received, 8 people from Bengaluru are stranded in Nepal. We are trying to get in touch with them. We will send one of our officers to Kathmandu," Parameshwara added. Highlighting the executive focus on securing financial assistance from national authorities, he said, "We will handle the severe drought situation in the state. We are seeking funds from the Government of India."
Govt Opens Helpline, Google Form to Trace Residents Stranded in Nepal
The Karnataka government has sought information on people from the state who are currently stranded in Nepal and the Tibet Autonomous Region (TAR) following severe flash floods and related disruptions along the border there and adjoining areas.
Stranded persons, relatives and tour operators are requested to provide details through the Google Form.
People seeking assistance have been asked to contact the State Emergency Operation Centre (SEOC) at 1070 or 080-22253707.
If family members, friends or acquaintances are suspected to be missing in Nepal, the public has been asked to immediately provide the government with the missing person's full name, mobile number, the place and time when they were last contacted, and permanent address details through the Google Form.
Information can also be sent by email to seockarnataka@gmail.com, the government release said the Indian Embassy in Nepal has released emergency WhatsApp and telephone numbers to provide aid to Indians stranded in the country.

Govt Efforts
Subsequently, in a release, the government has asked the public to immediately provide details if any tourists or citizens from the state are missing or have become uncontactable.
The state government is in touch with the Union Ministry of Home Affairs and the Ministry of External Affairs and is taking all possible steps on a war footing to provide necessary assistance to affected families and trace those who are missing, it said.
