BJP-Led NDA Return In 2028 Will Be Karnataka’s ‘Sixth Guarantee’: Vijayendra
He said the resignation of Nagendra had not addressed all the issues raised by the BJP and dismissed the suggestion that the party should have called off the padayatra following the former minister’s exit from the Cabinet

Vijayendra also cited several incidents involving Dalits and members of marginalised communities, including cases in Koppal and Yellapur, to allege that the Congress government and its leaders had failed to adequately respond to their concerns. — DC Image
Raichur: BJP state president BY Vijayendra on Tuesday announced the “sixth guarantee” for Karnataka — the return of a BJP-led NDA government after the 2028 Assembly elections.
Referring to the Congress government’s five guarantees, Vijayendra said people of Karnataka would deliver the sixth guarantee by voting the Congress out of power and bringing the BJP-led NDA government in the state in the 2028 assembly elections.
He was speaking at the BJP’s ‘Ballari Chalo’ padayatra in Lingasugur, which he said was the beginning of a sustained campaign against the ruling party.
Vijayendra described the padayatra as a historic campaign with the potential to change Karnataka’s political direction, calling it a people’s movement against what he termed the Congress government’s anti-Dalit, anti-farmer, anti-poor, anti-youth and anti-women policies and corruption.
Vijayendra said the BJP and JD(S) had raised the alleged Rs 187-crore Valmiki Corporation irregularities in the legislature and held protests across the state. The BJP would continue its agitation until the money reached the intended SC/ST beneficiaries, he said, alleging diversion of funds under the SC Sub-Plan and Tribal Sub-Plan.
Questioning the Congress’s claims of being pro-Dalit, Vijayendra referred to former minister KN Rajanna’s resignation and asked where the party’s concern for Dalits was then. He also cited incidents in various parts of the state and alleged that Congress leaders had failed to adequately respond to concerns of marginalised communities.
“BJP governments under BS Yediyurappa and Basavaraj Bommai had strengthened community development corporations. The Bommai government had increased SC reservation from 15 to 17 per cent and ST reservation from 3 to 7 per cent,” he said.
Turning to drought, Vijayendra claimed 175 taluks were facing drought-like conditions but only 101 had been declared drought-hit. He questioned the exclusion of several taluks in North Karnataka and claimed around 45,000 families in Lingasugur had locked their houses and migrated in search of livelihood. He also accused the government of neglecting projects including Navali and Nandawadagi.
On jobs, he accused the Congress of failing to fulfil its promise of 2.5 lakh government appointments and said the KPSC recruitment controversy had affected job aspirants. Referring to the recent arrest of Basavaraj, whom Congress had claimed was a BJP leader, he said the BJP would not oppose strict action against anyone responsible for harming youths’ interests.
“If those who played with the lives of young people deserve to be hanged, we will not oppose it. But the government must also fulfil its promise of providing 2.5 lakh jobs and immediately begin the appointments,” he said.
The BJP president also criticised the government over its reported move to ban arecanut, saying growers would have to approach ministers and seek their “well-being” before such a ban was lifted.
He said the BJP’s fight would continue beyond the 10-day padayatra until the Congress government was defeated in 2028, claiming the campaign would seek justice for farmers, Dalits, youth and women and greater development for North Karnataka.
