Mysuru City Boundary Expands Four Times to Form Greater Mysuru City Corporation

The Greater Mysuru City Corporation is aimed at giving a boost to creation of jobs, improved basic amenities for the residents in a scientific manner such as broader roads, better underground drainage system, drinking water supply among others.

Bengaluru: Mysuru City borders are all set to increase its boundary from its existing 86.31 sq kms to 341.44 sq kms as per a notification issued by the State Government to form Greater Mysuru City Corporation (GMCC). Mysuru is the native place of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and he represents Varuna Assembly seat in the district.

However, the notification on Friday asked the residents to come up with objections or suggestions, if any, on the Greater Mysuru City Corporation in writing within 30-days to the Director, Directorate of Municipal Administration, 9th floor, V.V. Towers, Bengaluru. The Greater Mysuru City Corporation merges several municipal councils, town panchayats and gram panchayats. After the deadline of 30-days of notification, officials concerned will take-up final consideration.

Under the Greater Mysuru City Corporation, the notification stated to include 65 wards of the previous Mysuru City Corporation, the wards Hootagalli Municipal Council, the Town Panchayats of Srirampura, Rumannahalli, Kadakola and Bogadi, the entire gram panchayat of Chamundi Hill, Alanahalli and Lalithadripura villages of Alanahalli Gram panchayat and many others.

In November last year, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah directed the officials concerned to prepare a plan for scientific development of Mysuru city keeping in mind the demands of two-decades.
