Motorists Complain Of Nails Strewn On Nelamangala Flyover
Motorists suspect puncture shops are the culprits behind "intentional" throwing iron nails on the flyover to get good business and want police to investigate all nearby puncture shops to stop such acts.

BENGALURU: Motorists passing over Nelamangala flyover on the outskirts of Bengaluru city complain of frequent iron nails strewn causing tyres to deflate in particular two-wheelers quite often.
Motorists suspect puncture shops are the culprits behind "intentional" throwing iron nails on the flyover to get good business and want police to investigate all nearby puncture shops to stop such acts. To repair a deflate tyre, a puncture shop charges Rs 100 to Rs 150 for a puncture.
On Wednesday, a couple on a two-wheeler passing over Nelamangala flyover had one of their tyres deflated after an iron nail pierced through it. The couple on their way to a hospital had to tow their vehicle before a fellow two-wheeler rider came across the deflated tyre and enquired what led to the tyre deflate.
The couple stated the reason and said “None dare to raise their voice over iron nails strewn on the flyover and tolerate the inconvenience.”
The two-wheeler rider brought to the notice of the police over scattered iron nails at a particular spot and the rider displayed a handful of strewn iron nails he had collected from the spot. According to the motorist, “If a proper search is conducted on the flyover one could get about a kg of iron nails.”
“Why should I remain silent?” questioned the motorist to a policeman who reached the spot after a complaint was raised with the police control room over nails strewn on the flyover. Another motorist passing on the flyover pointed to another two-wheeler facing problems over deflated tyres after a nail penetrated into one of the tyres.
However, sources told Deccan Chronicle that nearby puncture shops should be held responsible since they are ones who throw nails to deflate tyres and make money by repairing deflate tyres. Motorists alleged “This is one of the biggest illegal activities going on."
Another motorist wanted police to investigate all puncture shops in a radius of two-km from the flyover while another alleged such illegal activities are going around Bengaluru city while stating on Doddamara road, a puncture shop was opened recently and already there are complaints from the nearby residents about deflate tyres quite frequently.
Police assured the motorists to look into their complaints on throwing iron nails on flyovers/roads.
