MLA Offers Personal ₹1 Lakh Reward For School Land
Rayareddy appealed to the villagers of Huligudda, Nelajeri, and Sompur villages in Yelburga Assembly constituency, where high schools have been sanctioned this year: Reports

KOPPAL: In a unique personal gesture aimed at boosting rural education, Chief Minister’s Economic Adviser and Yelburga MLA Basavaraj Rayareddy has offered to give Rs 1 lakh from his own pocket for every acre of land donated by villagers for constructing high school buildings in three places of his constituency.
Rayareddy appealed to the villagers of Huligudda, Nelajeri, and Sompur villages in Yelburga Assembly constituency, where high schools have been sanctioned this year. Still, construction has been stalled due to the unavailability of land.
Although the government has provided Rs 2 crore for every high school building, including furniture, work has not begun as suitable land has not been identified. The government pays around Rs 6–7 lakh per acre. To ensure that villagers volunteer to provide land, Rayareddy said he would personally add Rs 1 lakh per acre to encourage villagers to come forward.
“In the last two-and-a-half years, I have got 18 new high schools sanctioned for my constituency. In 15 places, they already have their own buildings. However, the three schools sanctioned this year do not yet have land for construction. We need at least two to three acres for each school. That is why I have come up with this offer,” Rayareddy told Deccan Chronicle.
“I have given this offer. Let us see. There are possibilities of people coming forward,” he added.
Rayareddy has floated a detailed voice message asking people to give land in the three places.
“Think about the future of your children,” Rayareddy told villagers, urging them to give land for the project.
Rayareddy said once land is made available, construction work would begin without delay. “The government has already sanctioned funds. Only land is needed now. I request villagers to cooperate so that the school buildings can be completed at the earliest,” he said.
