Minor Pakistani Children Plea For Extended Stay In Mysuru Gets Turned Down By Karnataka HC

The court said it would not interfere with the direction of the Centre which has asked Pakistan nationals to leave the country within April 28.

Bengaluru: The Karnataka High Court turned down a petition of three minor Pakistan children, filed through their mother Ramsa Jahan, seeking a direction to the government to allow them to stay in Mysuru till May 15. The court said it would not interfere with the direction of the Centre which has asked Pakistan nationals to leave the country within April 28.

Ramsa Jahan, a resident of Rajivnagar in Mysuru, married Muhammad Farooq, a Pakistan national from Quetta, Balochistan, a decade back. Their children were born in Pakistan and granted citizenship of Pakistan. Ramsa Jahan was denied Pakistani citizenship due to her Indian origin.
With valid visas, Ramsa Jahan and her three children arrived in Mysuru on January 4 this year to attend a wedding on May 12. They had visas valid till February 17, which was extended to June 18.
Following the Pahalgam terror attack and the government’s orders to Pakistani nationals to leave India, Ramsa Jahan and her family obtained an exit permit from Udayagiri police in Mysuru city and reached the Attari border to return to Pakistan. At the border, Ramza Jahan faced diplomatic hurdles and Pakistani officials refused to allow entry to Ramsa Jahan, citing her Indian citizenship, while allowing her children to cross the border.
She waited at the border for a couple of days , requesting permission to cross into Pakistan. Her husband Muhammad Farooq was said to have not responded to her pleas in a positive manner.
With the assistance of Indian immigration officials, Ramsa Jahan returned to her paternal residence in Rajivnagar, Mysuru. Seeking extension of their visas, Ramsa’s children petitioned the High Court to allow them to stay in Mysuru till May 15. Their earlier appeal to the police commissioner for an extended stay in Mysuru went in vain.
