Minister Santosh Lad Calls for Distribution of Seeds and Fertilisers in Dharwad

MANGALURU: Following good rainfall in the district, Labour Minister and Dharwad district in-charge Santosh Lad instructed officials to ensure the timely distribution of seeds and fertilisers to farmers as per their requirements.

Speaking at a meeting with agriculture and other departmental officials at the deputy commissioner's office on Monday morning, Lad emphasized the importance of meeting farmers' needs.

"Farmers in our district have started sowing even before the onset of the monsoon due to favorable pre-monsoon rains. Currently, about 36 percent of the agricultural land has been sown, with the rest underway. The agriculture department must take necessary steps to supply seeds and fertilizers to all farmers according to their demand," he directed.

Lad also highlighted the importance of the FRUITS (Farmer Registration and Unified Beneficiary Information System) ID for farmers to avail themselves of various government benefits.

"It is essential for every farmer to have a FRUITS ID. Currently, 76 percent of the district's farmers possess this ID. Officials should launch a campaign to raise awareness and ensure that the remaining farmers obtain it," he added.

MLA NH Konaraddi stressed the need to inform farmers about the increase in seed prices and to introduce new seed varieties. He urged agriculture officials to direct the staff of Raitha Samparka Kendras to assist farmers in creating their FRUITS IDs and to promote awareness among the farming community.
