Minister aims to make Bengaluru global digital creation capital

Speaking at the inaugural function of 3-days GAFX 2025-India’s premier event for animation, visual effects and gaming, Kharge said “With right policies, the country could expand to 3 percent by 2030 contributing to 26 billion dollars”

BENGALURU: The global Animation, Visual Effects, Gaming Comics (AVGC) and Extended Reality is expected to grow to 882 billion dollars by 2030 from 596.7 billion dollars and India currently contributes less than 1 percent to the global market, said Minister of IT and BT Priyank Kharge on Thursday.

Speaking at the inaugural function of 3-days GAFX 2025-India’s premier event for animation, visual effects and gaming, Kharge said “With right policies, the country could expand to 3 percent by 2030 contributing to 26 billion dollars.”

The Minister said the State Government’s AVGC Policy is designed to propel the setting-up of AVGC centres of excellence to provide world class training and research and development support, and aims to enhance industry-academia collaboration to equip students with job-ready skills among others.

He said Karnataka at present has over 300 AVGC companies contributing nearly 20 percent of country’s AVGC output and exuded confidence “Our vision is to make Bengaluru the global capital of digital content creation.”

To make Bengaluru a global capital of digital content creation, Kharge said the State Government’s strategic focus has been on investing in artificial intelligence, extended reality and other cutting edge fields to stay ahead in the AVGC domain.

The Minister said the State Government has been looking forward to enhancing global collaborations for building partnerships with international studios and content creators to bring global projects to Karnataka. Besides, generating 30,000 new jobs by 2028.
