Mid-Air Medical Emergency: AICC Secretary Dr Anjali Nimbalkar Steps In To Help Fellow Passenger

Mangaluru: Dr Anjali Nimbalkar, former MLA of Khanapur and AICC secretary in charge of Goa, rendered timely medical assistance to a young American woman who suffered a medical emergency onboard a Goa–New Delhi flight.
Shortly after the aircraft took off, the woman reportedly began shivering and lost consciousness. Noticing the emergency, Dr Nimbalkar, who was travelling on the same flight, rushed to her aid and administered cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) after the passenger’s pulse could not be detected. The woman responded and regained her pulse.
About half an hour later, the passenger collapsed again. Dr Anjali Nimbalkar intervened once more, stabilising her condition and remaining by her side for the rest of the journey. She also coordinated with the flight crew to ensure that an ambulance was kept ready.
Upon landing in New Delhi, Dr Nimbalkar ensured the passenger was immediately shifted to a hospital for further treatment.
Her prompt response and continued assistance were widely appreciated by the pilot, cabin crew and fellow passengers on board.
Dr Anjali Nimbalkar is a medical professional and senior Congress leader who has served as the MLA from Khanapur in Belagavi district from 2018 to 2023.
She has an MBBS degree with a MS in Gynaecology. She had also contested as the Congress candidate of the Uttara Kannada Lok Sabha constituency in the 2024 general election.
