Many Voters Find Themselves Under ‘Absent Untraceable’ In Sir Excise In Bengaluru
A resident kashyapnandan posted on his social media account that Booth Level Officer updated his mother Suma has shifted while she stays with him.
BENGALURU: A couple of residents/voters point at discrepancies such as tagging them and their family members as "absent" despite being very much present at their said addresses in the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of Electoral Rolls of the Election Commission and they make an appeal to the Chief Election Officer to set things right before the final list of voters list is ready. The SIR exercise went on for more than a month in Karnataka and will end on Saturday.
A resident kashyapnandan posted on his social media account that Booth Level Officer updated his mother Suma has shifted while she stays with him. He also posted the screenshot of the list he verified and found his mother Suma has been mentioned as “permanently shifted.”
In another case, a resident taking to social media to the discrepancy in the SIR exercise, a resident T. Raghavan on his social media account pointed to his and his son’s name as “absent/untraceable.” His son Aadrash Raghavan mentioned “absent/untraceable.”
Expressing displeasure, Raghavan posted “At my home, 3 voters. I went and submitted Enumeration Forms but BLO marked me and my son as ASDDO which stands for Absent, Shift of Address, Dead, Duplicate and others.”
A resident Viswabharath stated on his social media post that his family residing in Malleshwaram of Bengaluru city were tagged under ASDDO by BLO. He stated he contacted the concerned BLO only to be told that Election Commission officials would contact him in a couple of days. Viswabharath stated BLO told him that “she was unaware of the process.”
Like T. Raghavan and Viswabharath, many voters across Bengaluru city in particular have come across their names under ASDDO after submission of filled-up Enumeration Form distributed to them by the BLOs. Officials asked residents/voters to immediately contact BLOs and get the correction done before the name in the voters list gets deleted.
