Mangaluru Police Arrest 3 More in July 2 Narcotics Case

The arrests were made following a joint operation by special teams sent to Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh.

Mangaluru: Continuing the crackdown on drug trafficking, the Mangaluru City Police arrested three more persons in connection with a narcotics case originally registered on July 2. The arrests were made following a joint operation by special teams sent to Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh.

The accused have been identified as Mayaram (32) from Barwani district of Madhya Pradesh, Premsingh Ram Pawar (48) and Anil Prakash Koli (35) both from Jalgaon district of Maharashtra.

The original case was registered under Sections 8(c) and 20(b)(ii)(B) of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985 at the Mangaluru CEN Crime Police Station. The investigation was launched based on information obtained from individuals who were found to be consuming narcotic substances. As the probe progressed, investigators traced the supply chain and identified six individuals allegedly responsible for supplying drugs to Mangaluru city. They were arrested and produced before court, which remanded them to judicial custody.

During the follow-up investigation, police received information that the drugs were being sourced from Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh. Acting on this information, special teams were dispatched to both states and successfully apprehended the three accused. They were produced before the court on July 9, and were remanded to judicial custody.

Police have seized three mobile phones used in the crime and cash amounting to Rs 1,78,920, suspected to be used for the crime.

The operation involved officers and personnel from the CEN Crime Police Station and Mangaluru City’s Special Force. Search in on for the other accused.
