Mangaluru Durgaparameshwari Temple: Bramaratha Collapses Partially During Annual Rathotsava

Mangaluru: The upper pagoda-like portion of the Brahmaratha at Bappanadu Sri Durgaparameshwari Temple collapsed during the annual Rathotsava festival shortly after midnight on Friday.
The temple is currently celebrating its annual festival, and the Brahmarathotsava was being held on Friday as part of the festivities. After the rituals, the Utsava Moorthi of the deity was placed on the decorated chariot, which was then pulled by devotees.
According to sources, just a few metres into the procession, one of the wheels of the chariot dislodged, bringing the chariot to an abrupt halt. The sudden jolt caused the Ganimara (main pillar of the chariot) to snap, resulting in the collapse of the entire upper portion of the Brahmaratha.
Fortunately, none of the devotees around the chariot, nor the priests seated within, sustained any injuries.
The temple authorities swiftly brought in the Vimana Ratha (a smaller chariot), and the Rathotsava continued without disruption. All associated rituals were carried out as scheduled.
On Saturday, other events linked to the annual festival were also conducted as scheduled. The festivities will conclude with the Maha Mantrakshate on Sunday. The video of the incident has gone viral on social media.
