Maharashtra Rain Raises River Levels In Belagavi
Farmers in villages along the riverbanks are closely monitoring the water levels amid fears that further rise in the rivers could affect standing crops.
Belagavi: Heavy rainfall in Western Ghats and parts of neighbouring Maharashtra has led to a rise in the water levels of the Doodhganga, Vedganga and Krishna rivers, flooding a few low-lying bridges and causeways in some parts of Belagavi district.
According to official sources, the increase in river inflows over the past few days has resulted in water flowing over about 5 bridges and culverts located in downstream areas in Nippani and Chikkodi. However, sources said the situation remains under control and there is no immediate cause for concern.
